St. Vincent General Hospital Cebu, Inc. began in 1950 as a two-story maternity facility owned by the late Atty. Jose Taboada and his wife, Dr. Natividad C. Taboada. Nine years later, they established the San Vicente School of Midwifery.
In March 2001, SVGH limited its operations to the school and key hospital departments, including the Emergency Room, Imaging, and Laboratory. Seven months later, all services were restored under the management of Cebu United Doctors Incorporated (CUDI).
Since July 2008, St. Vincent General Hospital has been managed by a new board headed by Atty. Augusto W. Go as Chairman, Dr. Iben Ting as President, Ms. Candice Gotianuy as Managing Director, and Frederick Ong as Director.
Today, St. Vincent is a 110-bed capacity hospital accredited by PhilHealth as a Center of Excellence and licensed by the Department of Health as a Level 2 hospital. The hospital is a seven-story healthcare facility that houses multiple and diverse patient care areas, including private and public wards that can accommodate a wide range of patients of different ages and medical conditions. Special units such as the Emergency Room Department, Operating Room Unit, Labor and Delivery Room Department, and Intensive Care Unit cater to more complex healthcare needs.
In addition, the facility includes a Renal Unit, Endoscopy Department, Ultrasound and 2D Echo Unit, Radiology Department, Pharmacy, and a comprehensive Diagnostic Laboratory supported by a competent and dedicated workforce using updated technologies and methods. The newly opened Rehabilitation Unit is also equipped with advanced and modern facilities.
The institution is led by dynamic and committed administrators headed by the President, Dr. Iben A. Ting; the Medical Director, Dr. Nina Angela H. Darcera; the Hospital Administrator; and the Chief of Clinics, Dr. Reginita A. Uy.
